 Information:

Live-Virtual: June 9-11, 2025

Additional In-Person Live Workshop: June 12, 2025 | Mass General Brigham, Assembly Row, Somerville, MA

Neurology for the Non-Neurologist was founded by Dr. Marty Samuels 30+ years ago and we are hoping to continue his legacy for years to come! This is a comprehensive live CME course that will provide attendees with the opportunity to improve knowledge, competence, and performance in the major sub-specialty areas of modern clinical neurology. The activity will incorporate presentations, Q&A, multiple-choice questions, and opportunities for the learners to interact with experts in the field. The course will provide updates on the rapidly changing field of clinical neurology. With the knowledge and competence gained, the learner will improve their ability to skillfully diagnose and manage those patients who present with neurological symptoms and disorders.

Target audience

This activity is intended for Specialty Physicians, Primary Care Physicians, APPs (PA and NP), General Practice Providers (primary care, family medicine), Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Oncology, Geriatrics, Psychiatry, and Neurosurgery.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of the activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Review the neurological history and approach to the neurological exam.
  2. Recognize how to diagnose common neurological problems such as headache, Parkinson’s disease, ischemic stroke, and dementia.
  3. Cite an approach to the most common neurological symptoms including headache, vision changes, weakness, dizziness, and cognitive changes.
  4. Apply optimal care to patients with neurological problems who do not require referral to a neurologist.
  5. Identify ways to provide self-management support to patients with chronic neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, or dementia.
  6. Recognize and manage neurological emergencies such as ischemic stroke and meningitis/encephalitis.
  7. Discuss the roles of members of a multi-disciplinary team, and how each contributes to optimizing outcomes for neurology patients, especially those undergoing rehabilitation or living with chronic disease (e.g. PT, OT, SLP, PM&R, etc).
