Join us for the inaugural Wellness and Preventive Medicine Annual Conference, April 11, 2025!
Why Attend?
Most of the chronic conditions in the United States are lifestyle driven, yet most clinicians received little formal education in lifestyle intervention during training. Many patients seek complementary medical interventions, which are also rarely discussed in conventional medicine training.
This conference aims to close the knowledge gap in lifestyle assessment and intervention, focusing on the following four areas: nourishing eating patterns, stress management, restorative sleep, and healthy movement. Specific, evidence-based tools in each of these areas will be shared with attendees, with the goal to empower attendees to provide lifestyle intervention counseling to patients. Evidence-based discussion of complementary medicine will also help attendees understand the indications and limitations of these modalities for patient care.
Who Should Attend?
This activity is designed for practicing physicians and advanced practice providers in primary care and specialties who treat patients with chronic conditions.
Course Objectives:
By attending, you will be able to:
- Describe the evolution and the future significance of wellness, particularly in the context of patient care and community health.
- Apply the principles and practices of lifestyle, integrative, and functional medicine in clinical care, as well as identify each role within the clinical care team.
- Define the fundamental principles of functional medicine, including its emphasis on patient-centered care, systems biology approach, and the importance of identifying and addressing root causes of diseases rather than just treating symptoms.
- Explain the historical context of healthcare disparities in underserved populations, as well as the barriers to lifestyle medicine in these communities, and describe strategies to implement culturally sensitive lifestyle medicine approaches and promote health equity.
- Explore the role and impact of wearable technology in lifestyle medicine, including its effectiveness in improving patient adherence to lifestyle interventions, and describe practical strategies for its integration into clinical practice.
- Highlight the benefits of integrative and lifestyle medicine and describe evidence-based data for incorporating these interventions into clinical practice, specifically for chronic disease management, such as brain health, cancer survivorship and chronic pain.
