This program is a multidisciplinary approach to practical and controversial issues in neonatology. Central Florida Neonatology has been developed by the neonatology teams of hospital systems within the Central Florida community, with representatives from AdventHealth for Children, Nemours Children’s Health, and Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from and network with colleagues within the field of neonatology and local to the Central Florida community.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this program participants should be able to:
- Describe the screening, treatment, and implications of congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV).
- Discuss current evidence-based feeding practices in the NICU to optimize patient outcomes.
- Determine strategies to support the developmental care of chronic NICU infants.
- Identify how to integrate trauma-informed care principles into NICU practices to improve family-centered care.
- Develop ways to promote shared decision-making processes among healthcare professionals in the NICU setting.
- Discuss the benefits of music therapy as a tool to enhance NICU care.
- Discuss the latest outcomes at the edge of viability
- Identify the principles of antibiotic stewardship and address specific NICU-related infectious risks such as VAPs, syphilis, and BF with HIV.
